The way we provide bra fitting training at IAC has changed a lot since we started in 2009. It all seems such a long time ago. When I think back, we would never have foreseen that we’d be doing 80% of our training virtually some 14 years later. In the early years we always insisted that face-to-face would be the better, stronger and a more interactive way of training, but on this occasion, we’ve been proved wrong.
Bra fitting is a very personal experience and should remain so
Bra fitting is and should remain such a personal experience and service. Covid put an end to that and in 2022 we introduced online training for the first time because of the demand. This shift to online training as the primary medium for training delivery is the most momentous change in the industry over the last decade (ever). This change was solidified in only a matter of months.
International Bra fitting courses
Over the years we had regularly been asked from people all over the world to offer virtual training and so we finally did. Because bra fitting is so personal, we were very unsure of how it would be received. How would it translate from face-to-face courses to solely online? We should never have been concerned, everyone loved it, demand soared and now it’s a way of life. Our bra fitting courses can be virtual and face-to-face simultaneously. The bra fitting course format is a huge success and has enable us to train people from all around the world. We have had trainees from the USA, Europe, Brazil, Tel Aviv, Guatemala, Australia, New Zealand, India, Israel, Nigeria, Trinidad and many more.
How are the online bra fitting courses run?
We run the day exactly the same and our comprehensive day includes one to one mentoring from our trainer, Allison. You also learn to assess, measure and fit real women in good fitting comfortable bras. The face-to-face training is very hands on. Trainees at home practise their fitting skills on a friend or family member (discreetly) on camera. Our trainer can then check their fitting method is correct and a well fitted comfortable bra is achieved. Having a model to practice on live has proved to be invaluable and works very well.
Our bra fitting manual has changed
The content of our bra fitting manual has changed and been regularly updated over the years but it’s still fundamentally the same. We started with over 40 years’ experience between us so we knew we had the skill, knowledge and ability. Updating is crucial, as nothing stays the same and the lingerie industry, whilst generally not viewed as very innovative, has evolved and some new technologies have been added.
Our Advanced bra fitting course deals with post-surgery bra fitting
Our advanced Bra fitting course is now all about Post Surgery. We invite post-surgery models to join us on the day to share their surgery scars and talk about bra fitting issues and their experiences both positive and negative. We limit the numbers hugely on the post-surgery bra fitting course as its very personal and specialist.
The post-surgery bra fitting course has evolved as well
Due to the enormous improvements in surgery and treatments for breast cancer this course has evolved considerably over the last decade. Both Allison and I feel very passionate about this type of bra fitting training and offer a very full and comprehensive course full of facts and figures as well as how to approach and serve a lady who has undergone breast cancer.
Qualifications and certification
Everyone who comes to train with us is looking for some qualification or certification. They also require continued support if and when they need it. This is something that we are immensely proud to offer without exception at IAC. Some people don’t “ get it” first time or as quickly as they’d like. Maybe they lack a little confidence for their first solo fittings, so to be able to email or phone us for guidance, support, encouragement or affirmation is always our pleasure.
