On Wednesday 20th November,  I had the great pleasure of attending the “Stars Underlines Best Shop Awards”  for the third time.

Organised by industry trade magazine, Underlines, this was their 5th annual awards at the Cumberland Hotel , London and I have to say it just keeps getting better and better.

The Stars of the evening are of course the retailers, with particular focus on the lingerie independent retailers who work so hard to survive in these challenging retail times. Their passion and energy for our fabulous industry make this event so enjoyable and exciting!

The star host was Paul Ross who was rather witty throughout the evening, adding the odd wolf whistle here and there!

Winners of the Stars Underlines Best Shop Awards 2013

Amongst the well deserved winners were:

Best Newcomer was My Lingerie from Buntingford, who opened just shy of 2 years ago

Best concept shop went to Guilt lingerie in Chichester. This is Georgina Wills’ second shop that opened in 2009.

Best independent department store went to Arnotts in Dublin Ireland – it has been trading since 1843!!!

Best Large Department Store award was given to House of Fraser

Moving over to best E Tailor award. This year’s winner was Figleaves, followed closely by the well-deserving MyTights.com who won the best Specialist E Tailor award.

I was particularly happy for Carol’s of Bishop Stortford, owned by bra guru, Carol Segal, who won the best Reference Shop award. She dedicated the award to her highly respected and fondly remembered mum, who initially started the lingerie business in Whitechapel many many moons ago.

The champagne started flowing at 7.45 and was followed up by a lovely meal. With the tables parting after the awards, the music got the guests dancing the night away…..

Well done underlines for another fabulous glitzy awards evening!
